In Greene County district court Jeffrey Lynn Jones II, 38, hometown not listed, was sentenced to five years in prison after he changed his plea to guilty to a charge of operating while intoxicated (OWI)-third offense. All but 30 days of the prison term was suspended and Jones was placed on probation for three years. He must follow the recommendations of a substance abuse evaluation and complete a community college drinking drivers school. Jones was fined $3,125 with a $1,093.75 surcharge and a $10 surcharge for drug abuse resistance education (DARE). Court costs were $140. Jennifer Ann Andrew, 29, of Adel was granted a deferred judgment after she changed her plea to guilty to a charge of OWI-first offense. She was placed on informal probation for one year. She must undergo a substance abuse evaluation and complete any recommended treatment at her own expense, and she must complete a community college drinking drivers school. She must pay a civil penalty of $1,250. Half the penalty may be waived under certain conditions. Court costs were $100. (Sentencing; Kester)
Jeremy Ernest Andrews, 25, of Jefferson was sentenced to two days in jail after he changed his plea to guilty to a charge of OWI-second offense. He must follow the recommendations of a substance abuse evaluation and complete a community college drinking drivers school. Andrews was fined $1,250 with a $437.50 surcharge and a $10 DARE surcharge. He must pay sheriff’s fees for the jail time he serves, restitution for his court appointed attorney’s fees in an amount to be determined, and $100 court costs. (Sentencing: Kester)
Lance Edward Kruse, 32, of Scranton was sentenced to two years in prison after he pleaded guilty to a charge of driving while license barred. The prison term was suspended and he was placed on probation for two years. Kruse was fined $625 with a $218.75 surcharge. He must also pay $60 restitution for his court appointed attorney’s fees and $100 court costs. (Sentencing: Kester)
Persons pleaded not guilty at arraignment as follows: Charles Noah Thompson, 74, of Jefferson, domestic abuse assault causing bodily injury; and Tamara Kay Arnold, 42, of Jefferson, possession of marijuana with intent to deliver, possession of a firearm by a felon- aiding and abetting (19 counts). Trial dates were set for June 23 in both cases.
